I'm not a ballistics expert but, I think the "air cushion" will only slow down d hollow points compared to d pointed, bec it forms a cup of air in front of d projectile.. Even cars use aerodynamics to "channel" air flow around d car's edges to minimize drag, thus giving us better fuel efficiency. In like manner, pointed pellets will force d air in front to its edges, thus slicing thru air while cavitating, to enable it to travel further & more accurate than a hollow point. A hollow point is the best, when it comes to "more damage" against soft targets i.e, hunting. It expands, thus creating a bigger wound.

Great article! I have 3 Benjamin Nitros. It took a while to realize the dome pellets were the best for accuracy. I feel the other pellet designs are created the same as fishing lures. They are designed to catch the buyer before the fish! Reading on scopes. I like the shim idea on the back mount. My sons friend pulled the trigger with the barrel down and bent it. I had to buy a new barrel($25 plus elbow grease) but the gun is shooting high still. I will try the shims. Thanks.

After almost a decade - can't get any more accurate than my Diana 350mag in 22. This is the most fun racoon capping, golf-ball launching, hi quality man toy you can buy without gun powder. Only bested in power by my Hatson 135 .25

i bought a crosman shockwave about two months ago and after about 800 rounds it became a tack driver. as others have said try a number of different pellets until you find the one that your rifle likes the best. i found that pdg .22 cal 15.9 grains work the best. the centerpoint scope works but i went with a bsa 4x. much clearer viewing. i can hit a golf ball at 30 plus yards. the trigger has smoothed out a bit. still not good. i think this is the same as the nitro venom and the f4. im very happy with the gun. 84 bucks from academy sports

I bought an X50 in2010 shot it for three years but never was satisfied with its accuracy. It had great power, terrible trigger creep and hard pull and had trouble keeping the scope tight. One day I noticed that there was too much adhesive holding the hand grip it was interfering with the muzzle crown. They replaced it in 2013 the replacement shoots much more accurate but the trigger still is a problem. My x50 is a .177.

OK, I took a closer look at the BSA home page. The Lightning GRT also comes in a 24 joule version 'for export only'. It says the .22 will do 720 ft/s, and the .177 will do 921 ft/s. 24 joules is 17.7 foot pounds. The site doesn't list a .25 version.

Of course, the cocking effort would go up. Nothing is free.
